How does the sign-up process work?
Once you register you’ll receive a message to your mobile over WhatsApp. You will need to enter a one-time verification code and then you’ll receive a unique link to grant permissions to create an additional Google calendar. This grants School Interactions permissions to strictly a calendar created by our service, not any of your existing events or calendars.
Once that’s done – you’re set. You’ll start seeing events filling the calendar as the service reads all of your school notifications. Ask questions via WhatsApp to the same account you’ve walked through the sign up process with.
How does the WhatsApp integration work?
Our WhatsApp account is available 24/7 to respond to any question in real time. Ask questions as you would of ChatGPT or any AI Chatbot but just with the entire knowledgebase of your school’s letters, messages, notifications. Want to ask when the term ends? What uniform supplier you need to use? What essentials your children need before starting school? When was the deadline for the current school trip? Just ask.
If you need any information on your account – just ask.
Similarly if you want a summary of your week, homework, or day – just ask.
How does the daily process work?
The School Interactions service reads notifications from the school, any attached PDFs and letters and forms a knowledgebase that’s specific to each child. When new notifications arrive, you’ll receive a summary via WhatsApp that highlight just the overview of what was imported along with the number of Google calendar events created per child.
You’ll also receive a morning update that highlights any events you need to remember for the day.
How secure is my data?
We are committed to safety and security of your data – although a lot of companies say that, our platform is built on this core principal. Your account details for School Apps are encrypted with constantly changing security keys. Data is kept on a private network that has no direct connection to the internet.
The permissions for Google Calendar are the bare minimum required in order to offer the service – and can be revoked at any time. Permissions allow us to create a secondary calendar, and to add/remove events only in this calendar.
How do you handle event cancellations and updates?
We have you covered. Part of the frustration with the existing model of school notifications was how many updates are sent for the same events. If updates to existing calendar events are received then the existing calendar entry is updated, not duplicated. Similarly for cancelled events.
How does the service stay relevant to my child?
We get that most schools have a huge number of letters, messages, notifications to send out daily covering a whole host of clubs, activities and classes. When notifications from the school are read, the service creates calendar events only for those events that are specific for your child based on their class and year group. That way we ensure what you see is a filtered and specific feed tailored to you.
Have something you want to remove from the calendar? Just delete the event – and it’ll stay deleted.
